This weekend is the end of the electoral campaign. After hundreds of hours of work, the two of us are completely wiped. What’s the election going to look like?
Well, the number 1 pollster in the country, Léger, has the parties at 43% Liberal, and 39% Conservative. The numbers match perfectly with other well respected polls like Nanos, as well as the two poll tracker averages. Basically, if these numbers are right (and they probably are), this would lead to a Liberal Majority, and it would serve to effectively eliminate the NDP and Green from the face of Canada. This is likely a one off, seeing as this campaign coincides with several historic global shifts. The Conservatives have certainly tightened the race since the beginning of the campaign, but unless the polls are very, very wrong (and they could be! But it isn’t likely) then the Liberals could walk away with a fourth mandate. The reality is that we don’t know until it’s over– so get out there and vote. As frustrating as it can be to see the problems in the system, it doesn’t change without every step of civic participation. This is one of them. Things have become… disturbingly autocratic in the United States. Donald Trump and his allies have started targeting judges, who were the only ones standing in the way of the regime. There seems to be no length Trump won’t go to assure his complete domination of the country, and he has even started pushing the idea of a fourth presidential run, selling hats that say “Trump 2028”.

La campagne électorale s’achève ce weekend. Après des centaines d’heures de travail, nous sommes tous les deux épuisés. À quoi s’attendre pour ces élections ?
Le sondeur numéro 1 du pays, Léger, place les libéraux à 43 % et les conservateurs à 39 %. Ces chiffres concordent parfaitement avec d’autres sondages respectés, tels que ceux de Nanos et les moyennes des agrégateurs. Si ces chiffres ont raison (ce qui est fort probable), cela pourrait aboutir à une majorité libérale, réduisant pratiquement à néant le NPD et les verts sur la scène fédérale. Cette situation exceptionnelle coïncide avec plusieurs bouleversements mondiaux historiques. Les conservateurs ont certainement réduit l’écart depuis le début de la campagne, mais à moins que les sondages ne soient très fortement erronés (ce qui est possible, bien que peu probable), les libéraux pourraient obtenir un quatrième mandat consécutif. La vérité, c’est qu’on ne saura rien avant la fin – alors allez voter. Aussi frustrant soit-il de constater les problèmes du système, rien ne changera sans la participation active des citoyens.
